Storage Tips
Our managers are knowledgeable and experienced with packing, and can advise you as to the best methods and materials for your belongings.

Bedding, Clothing, Curtains & Linens
If you're storing clothing, curtains, and/or drapes, it's best to store them on hangers or layer them in a box fitted to their size. We recommend you not store food or liquid items.

Books
For ease in moving, pack with 1.5 cubic foot containers or less. Place books flat to protect their spines. Do not pack fragile items in the same box as books

Furniture
Spray furniture with a good polish before storing. Stand sofas and mattresses on end. Disassemble all furniture. Use dresser tops for stacking items and the drawers for small items. Keep upholstery off the floor. Never store heavy objects on top of upholstery.

Glassware
Wrap all glassware and dishes properly. Place a layer of packing material on bottom of box and top of items once packed. Dishware should be stacked on edge. Use glass packing inserts for glasses.

Lamps
Pack lampshades separately, and do not use newsprint or inked papers to wrap them. Using newsprint or inked paper instead of blister packing could mean a broken lamp!

Mirrors & Paintings
Mirrors and paintings are very delicate, so be careful when packing. Always use special packing material, and always store on the edges, never flat. This will prevent them from damage or breaking.

Tools
To stop rust, wipe metal objects with cleaning oil before packing. Long handled tools should be tied in bundles.

Other Helpful Hints
- Label all boxes on each side and keep a list of what is in each box according to its label. Keep the list available both inside the unit and at your home.
- Use a good quality padlock on your storage unit
- Combustible or flammable materials are not allowed to be stored at AllStar Self Storage.
- Be sure to insure your personal property.
- Take it easy on your back by keeping packing boxes under 30 pounds and remember to lift with your legs.
